Mock power, make change. The 4D Conference on democratic digitalisation and digital rights is back with a new edition, this year as part of MozFest.

The 4D Conference is back for its third edition, and this year it comes with some new features. The On 29 October 2026, the annual gathering on democratic digitalisation and digital rights becomes part of MozFest 2026, within Open Tech Week Barcelona.

What is 4D?

The 4D programme, Democratic Digitalisation and Digital Rights, driven by Accent Obert i Xnet, work to embed digital rights in the way we design and develop technology.

It does so through initiatives such as 4D Call, which recognises and provides financial support ot existing developments or initiatives, with free or open licences, focused on action in terms of the commons and digital rights; and the 4D Conference, the annual event aimed at all individuals and institutions interested in learning about pioneering experiences towards democratic digitalisation.

After two editions, the 4D Conference has brought together leading speakers such as Cory Doctorow, Rasha Abdul Rahim, Adriana Groh, Lorena Jaume-Palasí and Sophie Bloemen.

A new home for the 4D Conference

This year, the 4D Conference moves to MozFest, the leading international festival on open technologies, digital rights and democratic innovation.

Both events are part of Open Tech Week Barcelona., which brings together institutions, tech communities, public administrations and organisations working towards a more open and democratic digital future for a whole week. Accent Obert and Xnet, the organisations behind 4D, are joining this year as co-organisers.

Mock power, make change

Humour can be a tool to question power, dismantle narratives and open up spaces for action. With this idea in mind, the new edition of the 4D Conference proposes an afternoon of satire, reflection and critical thinking.

The programme will feature Every One Hates Elon, a project that uses satire to point out the concentration of political and technological power; Pessimists Archive, which looks back at the history of technological panic in response to new technologies; and video interventions by The Juice Media’s Honest Government Ads and El Mundo Today.

The event will also feature an installation by Domestic Data Streamers to experiment with The Skeptic Reader, a tool designed to help us detect fallacies and question content circulating online. The project was one of the winning projects of the 2024 4D Call.
