This privacy policy applies to you if you have interacted with us, including but not limited to the following cases: if you have registered a .cat domain; if you are a contact person associated with a .cat domain name; if you are an employee of an organisation with which we have a contractual relationship; if you subscribe to our newsletter; if you visit our websites; if you participate in any of our training activities; or if you have contacted us through any other channel (such as email, phone, events, etc.).

Your personal data may be collected through the following methods: via domain name registration processes; through our network of accredited registrars; by email; by telephone; by fax; through your registration to participate in any of our training activities; by attending an event; through cookies or other technologies used to track visitors on our websites; via communications from providers or partners; through forms on our websites; or by any other means we may use to carry out our activities.

Which of your personal data do we collect and process?

Personal data refers to any information related to an identified or identifiable natural person and includes: (i) information you voluntarily provide to us (e.g. through our website forms), (ii) information provided to us by your registrar during the registration of your domain name, and (iii) information we collect from your attendance at our events or from your visits to our website(s).

In the context of our commercial and training activities, and in order to provide you with quality service and improve our offerings whenever possible, we may process the following personal data — depending on the nature of the service you have contacted us for and the information required to deliver it properly: your name, email address, the organisation you work for, your job title, home address, language preference, gender, age, unique identification alias in our system, domain name, financial data, banking or credit card information, legal data related to domain names, IP address, images, and video files.

To carry out certain training activities, we may need to process your national ID number and employment status. This information will only be requested when strictly necessary, for two specific purposes: to verify candidates’ eligibility to participate in the course, and to issue participation certificates.
In the case of domain holders and associated contacts, since it is not possible to register a domain name directly with us, we collect your personal data through the company with which you registered your domain. This company may be one of our accredited registrars or one of their resellers, who collect your personal data on our behalf.

Why do we process your personal data?

We process your personal data for various purposes:

• In order to provide the best possible services for your domain, we need to collect personal data related to your domain name. This also allows us to identify you and contact you directly regarding your domain name registration, should it become necessary.
• We use your personal data to maintain and build long-term relationships, and to execute any contract we may have with you. We also use your personal data to respond to your enquiries, fulfil your requests, and/or send you administrative information.
• Your personal data may be used to comply with applicable laws and regulations. It may also be used to respond to requests or claims from public and governmental authorities — including those outside your country of residence — or to protect our rights, privacy, security, or property and/or those of our affiliated entities.
• We may use your personal data to send you promotional messages, marketing content, information about the .cat community, and other updates that may be of interest to you.
